The Clear Lake Family Cottage  along with the guest cottage are extremely clean, cozy and well maintained. The cottage is very well located and close to Toronto (1.5 hrs). It is 20 min north of Peterborough and 10 min from Lakefield on prestigious Clear Lake which is part of the Trent Severn Waterway.

INTERIOR DESCRIPTION

Main Cottage:

The large master bedroom is spacious (18′ x 36′) and includes an ensuite (10′ x 13′) with old fashion tub, shower and front seating area. The other 3 bedrooms are exquisitely decorated, there is a queen in one room and a double in the other two. The cottage has a beautiful kitchen complete with a reproduction electric 4 burner stove. There is a separate broiler and warming oven. The living room is cozy, warm and nicely decorated with plenty of seating. There is an air tight fireplace for cold fall and winter days. The games room is what every sports enthusiast dreams of with 5’x10′ pool/snooker table and a shuffle board.

Winter: fully heated but no plumbing or water – for sleeping only

EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION

The cottage has a large deck cantilevered over the boat port that gives a spectacular view of the entire lake (the deck will not be available in 2021 since being repaired – will just have the roof over the boat port). It has great water access with 2 docks (one boat allowed at dock #1 as dock #2 is for swimming only). No walk-in entry, ladder from dock. The water is approx. 10 ft at the end of the dock. The water is clear with very few weeds and is appropriate for swimming. canoeing and kayaking are also appropriate on the lake. Water shoes are optional,  some people like using them because the shoreline is rocky.  Our longest dock can accommodate a boat, 18 – 20 ft, renters need their own ropes for tie up at the dock.

Fishing is excellent, even right off the dock. For those days when the flies or mosquitoes are bothering you there is a large screened in gazebo for your comfort off the deck of the main cottage.

The driveway to the cottage cannot be used during most the winter, need to park at the top of the hill.

Clear and Stoney Lakes offer miles of picturesque boating. At Young’s Point (3.2 km) there is shopping and restaurants. The Town of Lakefield (10 min) can be accessed by road or boat (1 lock).

Our hosts were great! They met us when we arrived and showed us around.  They showed us the boat and we went for a nice tour. The cottage was rustic and just as pictured. The screened in gazebo was great! Plenty of room for badminton and washer toss! The only thing lacking was the fishing….other than the 40″ Muskie on the first day only one Pickerel and one Bass.
