The primary bedroom has an ensuite, spectacular view of the lake and a walk-out to private deck to enjoy your own personal serenity. The other 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms have an almost suite like feel with a pocket door to close off 1 bedroom and bathroom and another door closing off the other 2 bedrooms and bathroom.

The kitchen and dining room have everything you need to enjoy those family dinners with vaulted ceiling and tons of lighting with a walk-out to the large deck. The living room has a wood burning fireplace and tons of space for the whole family to enjoy as well as a walk-out to the large deck. The natural light and view throughout this beautiful home makes you feel like you’re always outside and in touch with nature. The basement has a laundry room, workshop, and storage room.

The cottage is located on locally maintained roads. West Eels Lake Road and the 74’s roads are all gravel. (during the winter months, AWD or 4WD with winter tires are recommended to access the cottage)

There is a steep hill before the cottage. There’s a “STOP” sign with a “VERY STEEP GRADE: USER ASSUMES ALL RISK” on the side of the road before the hill. Do not go down the hill. It will be next to impossible to climb back up otherwise. Parking is at the top of the hill, please park at the right side of the driveway just before the hill. There are sleds at the top of the hill for you to use to help move your things down and up the hill during the winter. There are a few sets of crampons/spikes in the house for you to use to increase your traction on the hill in the winter. Please do not wear them in the house, on the stone steps, or on the deck.

  • BBQ – there are 3 propane tanks at the cottage, if one runs out, please inform the owner so it can be replaced before the next guest arrives
  • Property is on a hill – steps throughout the house and to enter the cottage
  • Waterfront: 160 ft
  • Swimming is great in the lake – no weeds – shallow close to shore – can get deep depending on the location
  • No weeds – water shoes not needed
  • Walk in entry – stone steps
  • If the water is low, there is a small rocky beach
  • Dock: 230 sq ft – depth of the water at the end of the dock varies between 15ft – 10ft depending on the season – dock has a ladder for exiting
  • Dock is large enough to hold up to an 16’ (18′ will hang over end of dock) bowrider/pleasure/ski type boat
  • The lake is good for motorboats, water skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking etc.
  • 2 canoes and  2 stand-up paddle boards
  • Deck: 550 sq ft

  • View is amazing – cottage faces north – sits right on the water (foundation is actually in the water)
  • Beautiful sunsets


  • Great for swimming, fishing, and any water sports you desire in the summer! The lake freezes over in the winter and is a great spot for cross-country skiing, hiking, and sometimes skating! Eels Lake is a fish sanctuary during the winter months. However, there are many other lakes within a 5 min drive that can be ice fished.
  • Petroglyphs Provincial Park, Peterborough (60 km) – features indigenous rock carvings
  • Gut Conservation Area (46 km) – walking trails, Crowe River gorge
  • Provincial Parks: Silent Lake (15 km), Kawartha Highlands (38 km)
