This small quiet lake is ideal for getting away and recharging batteries. Clydesdale Lake has an average depth of 1.8m with its deepest point being 4m. There is excellent swimming off the dock and fishing in its clear waters. The water is always calm. Our cottage has 60 feet of waterfront with western exposure giving sunshine for most of the day. Whether you’re swimming, relaxing on the dock, or sitting in front of the house, your whole family will be together on the lake level waterfront. There are no steps between the cottage and the water, only a few feet of grass, so it’s perfect for the grandparents. You really can’t get any closer to the water if you tried.

Apsley is only 10 min away and has most of the essentials – LCBO, library, drugstore, convenience store, Royal Bank, Home Hardware and many upscale cottage gift shops. ACTIVITIES NEARBY

Set amidst 250 lakes and rivers, this cottage on Clydesdale Lake makes for an unforgettable cottage country vacation. The scenic Kawartha Lakes region is dotted with several beautiful small towns each full of historical sites, charming shops, and quaint cafes.

North Kawartha is located midway between the city of Peterborough and the town of Bancroft which both offer all the amenities of larger urban centres. Within the Township are smaller urbanized areas such as Apsley and the hamlets of Big Cedar, Burleigh Falls, Glen Alda, Mount Julian, Stoneyridge and Woodview. North Kawartha offers medical facilities, an ambulance base, a pharmacy, a school, larger grocery outlets and smaller general stores, libraries, retail and commercial operations including restaurants, real estate, building supplies, legal services, a legion, two golf courses, a bank and a post office. The Township provides a full range of parks and year round recreational facilities and programs including an indoor ice surface.

Provincial Parks: Petroglyphs Provincial Park which displays the largest known concentration of aboriginal rock carvings in Canada, and the Kawartha Highlands Signature Site Provincial Park. Rugged rolling landscape of small lakes, wetlands, forests, rocky barrens and great wildlife viewing opportunities and a large diversity of species. Enjoy solitude and tranquility.

The Gut Conservation Area: The Gut Conservation Area is a 400 acre site located just east of Apsley. This Conservation Area features walking trails, a look out area and a stairway down to the gorge. The Gut is a large gorge that the Crowe River flows through for about 230 meters. The fissure that forms the gorge is over 30 meters high and varies from 5 to 10 metres in width. The gorge presents a breathtaking glimpse of this unique terrain.

Burleigh Falls, Glaciation and the Shield: Burleigh Falls delineates where the Canadian Shield begins, or where the glaciers of the last, mini ice age came to a halt about 15,000 years ago. You’ll notice that trees to the south are mainly deciduous and trees to the north are mainly coniferous. To the north is the rock of the Canadian Shield exposed by glaciation. To the south is the debris that was pushed in front of the glaciers, and forms the Oak Ridges Moraine and the area known as the Land Between.

Two Golf Courses: Marvel Rapids Golf Course and Owenbrook Golf Course

The Bancroft Village Playhouse: Offers audiences intimate access to live music, theatre and film. Drawing on local talent as well as nationally recognized names and acts, the Playhouse is the heart of Bancroft’s Theatre District.

Apsley Studio Tour: The Apsley autumn studio tour is renowned for the quality of the artists working in a variety of disciplines. Located in the North Kawarthas, many of the studios are tucked away in beautiful, scenic locations where our local artists and guests present new and exciting works created specifically for this annual event.
