Please use the Search Engine on the Home Page kawarthacottagevacations.ca. If you would like a particular lake, simply click on Body of Water, click the Lake and then click Search. This will reveal all the cottages on that particular lake. If you enter “pet friendly” in the key words in the search engine, you will come up with a list of pet friendly cottages. Under “Advanced Search” you can search under Nearest Town, Minimum Bedrooms, and other categories.

If you wish to pursue another cottage, please note another Rental Application is not required, the one application can be used for any cottage. We will communicate via email for any changes to a cottage or adjustment of dates.
We just need 2 people that we can contact or a prior rental contact to give character references for the owner’s peace of mind. As our owners are renting out their personal cottages, this is an additional requirement to reassure them and to emphasize proper care of their property. We assure you this is a very short and simple phone call to your named references. We follow all TICO regulations and privacy standards We do not require references if you are a repeat client.
We unfortunately do not book one-night getaways. The minimum length of stay is two nights at most cottages.
The majority of our cottages only rent on a weekly basis in high season, however, as indicated on our availability calendar https://www.kawarthacottagevacations.ca/calendar/ in column “C”, some rent for a shorter period of time. Also, cottages that will accept short-term rentals are indicated as Daily. Lastly, if you find a specific cottage having availability for a few days only within a weekly period, you can inquire for those days.
Each cottage has its own weekly rate and its own premium rate. When a stay falls on a long weekend, the long weekend nights are charged at a premium rate. Premium nights on a long weekend are Fri, Sat, and Sun. Those nights that you stay, up to the Friday of the long weekend, are charged at the regular weekly rate, and the remaining long weekend nights are charged at the premium rate per night.

The rates for our cottages are kept low so that smaller groups can afford to rent. The rates for each cottage are based on a standard number of people per cottage (2 people/bedroom). The number of people above that standard is charged as an extra person fee per week up to the maximum allowable occupants of the cottage. These conditions are set by the owners of the cottage and our calculations reflect those conditions. As with most establishments in the hospitality sector, lodging rental rates are based on a standard number of people and a set charge is paid for every person over that number.

No, these fees are non-refundable.
Typically, the rates are not negotiable as they are set by the owners to cover the entire stay for each individual (water, electricity, etc). We are bound by them. However, we can always approach an owner on your behalf to check if there is any leeway.
As we are registered with the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) your money will be safe with us. Please feel free to call them as we have an unblemished record.

We are sorry, we are not set up for credit card payments due to their fees as we would then have to pass these fees onto you which would make the cottage rental that much more expensive. Our preferred method of payment is Interac e-Transfer directly to the owner (details to be provided on the Cottage Rental Agreement-CRA), PayPal or wire transfer is a possible alternative.

In extenuating circumstances, we will accept a certified cheque sent directly to the owner, however, complete, and final payment would need to be 6 weeks prior to the arrival of the renter to the cottage, instead of 4 weeks only.
We generally accept payment by Interac e-Transfer directly to the owner. Do you have a Canadian bank account and/or family residing in Canada who will be able to complete this payment? If Interac e-Transfer is not an option for you, PayPal or wire transfer is a possible alternative. This will be organized and confirmed just prior to your rental confirmation.
You are to pay 50% upon booking and then the rest is due 28 days prior to checking in.
It will be returned to you by Interac e-Transfer upon check out or once the cottage and property have been inspected by the cottage owner or designate (within 7 business days).
The cottage will be very well cleaned, neat and tidy for you, and you are expected to do the same prior to departure. In some cases, you can purchase the cleaning service as indicated in the rental rates section on each cottage website page.
Typically, cottages will be supplied with a starter package of a roll of toilet paper or two for each bathroom and maybe a paper towel roll for the kitchen etc., however, please understand when renting a cottage all consumables are the rental client’s responsibility. Pots, pans, dishes, cutlery etc. will be at the cottage.
